Our commitment to Pride Month

At Mersey Rose Recreationals Cricket Club, we believe that cricket is a game for everyone. We are committed to creating an environment where all players, volunteers, supporters, officials and members feel welcome, respected and valued, regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.

Sport has the power to bring people together, build friendships and strengthen communities. However, many LGBTQ+ people have historically faced barriers to participation in sport, including discrimination, exclusion and a lack of representation. As an inclusive club, we believe it is our responsibility to help overcome those barriers and ensure that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy cricket in a safe and supportive environment.

Pride Month is an important opportunity to celebrate the diversity that makes our club and our wider community stronger. It is a time to recognise the achievements and contributions of LGBTQ+ people and reflect on the progress that has been made towards equality, while acknowledging that there is still work to do to ensure sport is truly inclusive for all. By supporting Pride Month, we reaffirm our commitment to creating a culture of respect, acceptance and belonging. We want every person at our club to know that they are welcome here, that they can be themselves and that they will always be treated with dignity and respect.

Cricket is at its best when everyone can participate and thrive. Together, we will continue to foster a club culture where diversity is celebrated and inclusion is embedded in everything we do.
