Mersey Rose lose entertaining game at Wadham Road

Mersey Rose 74-2 (Net Score 264) (Aaron McKenna 16) Bootle 122-4 (Net Score 302) (Anna Page 1-9) Bootle won by 38 runs

Mersey Rose lost the second softball game of the season at Wadham Road to a talented Bootle side. Put into bat the the hosts, Mersey Rose started quite well although a nix-up between Billy Gartside and Aaron McKenna led to an unfortunate run out. Rose recovered and the opening pair put on a solid 20,

Mersey Rose only lost one further wicket but in windy conditions were not able to accelerate the run rate as they would have liked and finished on a moderate total of 74 for 2 - a net score of 264. However, Heidi Page showed a lot of potential and batted sensibly while Ian Mosquito provided some positivity towards the close of the innings.

Bootle's opening pair made an explosive start but were held back when Anna Page struck in the third over. Mersey Rose took another three wickets including two great run-outs from Billy Gartside and Ian Mosquito, which underlined the quality of the visitors; fielding performance. However, it wasn't enough against some purposeful batting from Bootle. The stand-out player was Heidi Page, who bowled beautifully and made several stops in the field.

Thanks to Bootle for the game and for hosting.
